IT & Digital, Auckland
We are an Auckland based IT and digital recruitment team placing permanent and contract technology people across the city, from startups in Ponsonby to enterprise and government teams in the CBD.
Our Auckland office is at Level 1, 87 Albert Street, Auckland 1010.
Auckland is New Zealand's biggest technology market and the most competitive one to hire in. Good engineers, analysts and delivery people are rarely on a job board, so we work our networks, talk to passive candidates, and keep structured pools of pre-screened contractors ready for project and surge work.
Our consultants have spent years in this market. They know which teams are scaling, what the going rate is for a senior developer or a Salesforce specialist in Auckland right now, and how long a realistic search should take. You get a shortlist of people who genuinely fit, not a pile of CVs.
We recruit permanent, contract and fixed-term technology roles, and we can run confidential or executive search when the hire is sensitive. No monthly sales targets, no pressure to close, ever.
What we recruit
Auckland carries the largest concentration of technology employment in New Zealand, and most of the demand we see comes from a handful of recurring drivers rather than from across the board growth. Cloud migration and platform consolidation keep generating DevOps, platform and infrastructure engineering roles. Data platform builds and the reporting work that follows them keep data engineers, analysts and BI specialists in short supply. Security uplift programmes, often triggered by a customer requirement or an audit finding rather than by choice, create demand for security engineers and consultants who can do the work rather than just write the policy.
The other constant is implementation. Auckland head offices run a lot of ERP, CRM and finance system programmes, and those need business analysts, delivery leads, testers and integration people for a defined window. That work is where a lot of our contract placing happens.
What this means practically is that the Auckland market is deep but it is not slow. Strong candidates are usually in two or three processes at once, and counter-offers from their current employer are common at the point of resignation. We plan for both. We tell you early if a candidate is running other options, and we have the counter-offer conversation with them before you make an offer rather than after.
Our office is on Albert Street in the CBD, but Auckland's technology employers are spread right across the region and so is our candidate network.
We recruit for the corporate and financial services teams in the central city and the tech and startup community around Wynyard Quarter and Ponsonby. We work with the head offices and agencies in Newmarket, and with the growing cluster of technology teams on the North Shore in Takapuna and Albany. To the south and east we recruit into the logistics, manufacturing and distribution businesses running serious technology operations out of Penrose, Ellerslie, Highbrook, East Tamaki and Manukau.
That geographic spread matters when you are hiring. Commute is one of the two or three things that most often decides whether a good Auckland candidate says yes, alongside salary and how much onsite time you expect. If your office is in Albany or East Tamaki rather than the CBD, the search runs differently and the shortlist looks different. We will tell you that at the briefing stage rather than three weeks in.
We start with a proper briefing, not a job description forwarded by email. We want to know what the team is actually building, who the person reports to, what the first six months look like, and where you have flexibility on skills, seniority, salary and onsite days. That last one has become the single most negotiated point in Auckland technology hiring.
We then work our own network rather than only advertising. The strongest technology people in Auckland are usually employed, not looking, and not reading job boards. We approach them directly. For contract and fixed-term roles we go to our pre-screened contractor pools first, which is why contract shortlists usually land within a few days rather than weeks.
Every person on your shortlist has been interviewed by the consultant working your role and referenced before you see them. You get context on each one: why they are moving, what else they are looking at, what they will say yes to and what they will not. We are also happy to tell you when we think a brief will not fill as written, and what to change. We would rather have that conversation up front than send you a shortlist that wastes your time.
For permanent searches, expect one to two weeks to shortlist depending on seniority and scarcity. For contract, usually a few days.
Questions
We cover the full technology stack: software developers and engineers, DevOps and cloud specialists, architects, business and systems analysts, project and programme managers, scrum masters, product owners, testers, data and BI specialists, cyber security engineers, and infrastructure and service desk staff, from graduate through to CIO and CTO level.
Yes. We recruit permanent, fixed-term and contract technology roles in Auckland. For contract work we draw on pre-screened contractor pools so we can usually present available candidates within a few days. We do not do casual temp staffing.
Most contract roles are shortlisted within a few days. Permanent searches usually take one to two weeks to shortlist, depending on seniority and how scarce the skill set is.
Level 1, 87 Albert Street, Auckland 1010. We also have a Wellington office at Level 6, 11 Chews Lane, Wellington 6011, consultants in Christchurch, and we recruit nationwide.
Fees depend on the role, whether it is permanent or contract, and the level of search involved. We will talk you through the numbers up front, in plain language, before any work starts. Get in touch for a quote.
Yes, and it is a large part of what we do here. We recruit contract and fixed-term technology people for project work, programme surges, parental leave cover and system implementations, drawing on pools of contractors we have already interviewed and referenced. We can usually present available people within a few days. We do not do casual temp staffing.
Yes. We recruit across the whole region, from the CBD and Wynyard Quarter through Newmarket, Takapuna and Albany on the Shore, and out to Penrose, Highbrook, East Tamaki and Manukau. Location genuinely affects who will say yes to a role in Auckland, so we factor it into the search from the start.
It depends heavily on the specific skill set and how scarce it is right now. Our consultants give you live market rates as part of taking the brief, and our published Salary and Rate Guide has indicative permanent salary and contract rate ranges for technology roles filtered to Auckland.
