You worked hard to obtain your degree; you’ve worked hard to learn your profession. You should be rewarded for that hard work. Don’t settle for less than the job you’ve been working towards, sometimes the best career growth comes with a new role that challenges you.
You #loveyourjob, but the team you’re working in don’t all feel the same way. Are these your kind of people? – if not you need to find a likeminded group of people. It will make all the difference.

Seek out that role with an employer offering structured professional development – there are some amazing learning and development opportunities in the market right now.
This is possibly the best time to find a new role with unemployment being the lowest it has been for over ten years, below 5% unemployment means huge demand for skilled workers. Now is the time to move jobs, it may be a different story in 18 months.

You feel like everyone out there has flexible working offered to them, except you… Correct! Since March 2020 the whole corporate world has moved to more flexible working, this includes work from home, work from anywhere, flexible start and finish, and the option of part-time hours such as the 9 day week. If you aren’t getting offered these things and you want them, it’s time to align yourself with a new employer.

Yes, some employers will offer you a big pay rise once you resign, but why should they benefit when someone else has spotted your talent and potential? Don’t fall for the counter, move on. It’s not just about the money.
You’ve had an amazing run! You’ve reported to an inspiring mentor who has taught you some amazing things. You’ve had a close-knit team of colleagues. Everything is perfect. Except your manager resigns, the new person is not your kind of person. The team starts to disband. This happens all the time. You know what excellent looks like. Move jobs to find it again. It’s still out there.
Benefits! They have been slow to come in New Zealand largely because of fringe benefit tax, but more and more employers are including fringe benefits and they can make a huge difference.
