In the world of job hunting, your CV is your golden ticket. It's your opportunity to make an unforgettable impression. Forget what you thought you knew about CVs, this isn’t just about content and experience. It's about presentation, innovation, and standing out in a sea of applicants. When it comes to crafting an eye catching CV, there's plenty of resources available online that can help you stand out from the rest. So let's explore some of the approaches you can take in crafting a CV that catches the eye of hiring managers.
You have one shot, one opportunity… oh wait, Eminem eat your heart out. In all seriousness, the presentation of your CV/Resume is a big thing. You do get one chance to catch a hiring manager or recruiters eye. Yes the content and experience is important, but a well presented CV may help you get your foot in the door! You’ve no doubt got your favourite word template that you’ve used for years. What I’m going to suggest here is a step away from this. It might not be the right step for every job that you’re seeking, so please use your judgement.
Pop over to resume.io and check out the range of templates they have on offer. They literally have a template for every job category and will no doubt have at least one that catches your eye! There’s an easy resume wizard/builder which will guide you along the way. Note – there is a cost to using resume.io which is a subscription. You can start a subscription and then close it once you’ve secured your dream job!
If you haven’t heard of Notion I invite you to leave your cave right now! It is quite possibly the single most powerful productivity tool on the planet right now, other than your own drive to succeed that is! You can create a myriad of different pages using their blocks functionality. A CV/Resume is one such page you can build. Check out this CV which was built on Notion! Get Notion here (it’s FREE!).
Literally my favourite No-Code tool available right now! Webflow is an amazing tool for creating bespoke websites and web applications. It’s crazy powerful and whilst it has a steeper learning curve than WordPress, Wix and other web builders, the end result is worth the toil. The following site was built by a guy who applied for a role at Webflow. His one page site (built in Webflow) was built in one night and should surely net him an interview or follow up call! Check out Webflow here.
You don’t have to use the platforms I’ve suggested. All I’m suggesting is get creative. Use the platform of your choice and stand out in a busy crowd!
