Every profession needs accountability. Boundaries, ethics and trust are priceless, and reputation is everything. Unfortunately, over the past 12 months the reputation of New Zealand’s Recruitment and Staffing Industry has taken a hit. Towards the end of last year, disgraceful allegations of the mistreatment of migrant workers in Auckland surfaced. This abhorrent exploitation has left a stubborn stain on the labour hire industry. It will take time and education to wipe it out.

The fact is, most recruitment and staffing firms, strive to do the best for both their clients and candidates and if they are RCSA members, they are bound by a code of professional conduct and required to operate with the highest integrity.

RCSA is the only peak body for Recruitment, Consulting and Staffing in both Aotearoa New Zealand and Australia. It represents more than 1400 Corporate and Individual Members, promoting and facilitating professional practice in recruitment and staffing. Its members are expected to set the benchmark for industry standards and the Association supports this expectation by providing education, training, research and advisory support. It is all underpinned by the RCSA Code for Professional Conduct.

The objectives are simple.

  • To promote excellence, enterprise, and integrity in the businesses of all members and of individuals engaged by those businesses.
  • To improve knowledge and skills with respect to their responsibilities, duties, and rights in the Workforce Services Industry.
  • For businesses and candidates who have reservations about engaging or working with a recruiter, it is advised that they choose an RCSA member to mitigate any risks. RCSA members must always behave professionally and have a duty to operate with transparency. Exploitative and unethical behaviour is not tolerated.

The RCSA community is guided by core values. Members are to be committed to growth and helping others by doing good business.

These are the values of RCSA members, who commit to lead in the world of work:

  • They genuinely champion professionalism.
  • By committing to a code of conduct, they uphold ethical standards and practice mutual accountability.
  • They value diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging, with people are at the centre of everything they do.
  • They are stronger together.

As a community, RCSA members celebrate each other’s successes and build each other up through networking events and collaborative working groups. To be part of RCSA means to be brave enough to call out poor practice and hold others accountable.

Members are committed to improving the industry’s reputation by stamping out unethical behaviour. It makes engaging an RCSA member the safest option for businesses and candidates.
